VIDEO: The Georgia Dome dies

From dust you came, and to dust you shall return

At about 7:30 this morning, explosives experts sent the Georgia Dome to its grave.

The Atlanta Falcons' former football arena is now but a mess of rubble, mangled steel, and, for a short time, a dust cloud memory of 25 years worth of fan-filled wonder.

Less than a football field's length away, the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, chuckling at its younger sibling's demise, stood proudly over the debris, eager to hog the excitement for some years to come although, who can say how long it'll take for Atlanta to grow bored of its magical moving roof and totally unnecessary 360-degree jumbotron?

Dig the footage below of the mighty giant's final moments. CL contributor Brandon English scoped the spectacle with his stellar camera skills, and that hi-def joint will be online soon. Stay tuned.
