The Allman Brothers Band drummer and co-founder was 69 years old

Butch Trucks, drummer and a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, died in his West Palm Beach, Florida home on Jan. 24. He was 69 years old. No cause of death has been reported yet.

Born in 1947, Trucks co-founded the Allman Brother’s Band in 1969 alongside Duane and Gregg Allman, Berry Oakley, Dickey Betts and Jai Johanny Johanson. Butch performed steadily with the Allman Brothers until their 2014 disbandment, and with his own group the Freight Train Band. He is survived by his wife, children, and four grandchildren.

A press release issued by the Allmans’ public relations firm, Reckoning PR, asks for donations and remembrances in Butch Trucks’ name may be made to the Big House Museum in Macon, Georgia.
