Bruce Johnson, Exercise in Restraint: Montgomery Civil Rights Portraits

Bruce Johnson is obsessed with painting arrest photos. Specifically, arrest photos of civil rights advocates from the mid-50's in Montgomery, AL. Gallery 72 invites guests to view the exhibition filled with what Johnson considers is the ability to discern what is important and act upon it. Several of the photos are from the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

CARE’s Scale X Design Challenge - Atlanta Pitch Night & Celebration

CARE’s experts see challenges to overcoming poverty and social injustice every day, and we know what works. Global development teams will pitch why their innovations should be scaled to reach millions.

Guests are invited to learn of innovative solutions, meet teams from around the globe and vote to select the winners of $300,000 in grants. 

“Guess the Grape” blind red wine tasting

The Savvy Cellars - 6690 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs, GA, 30328 $15. 7 p.m.

Wine lovers of all experience levels are invited to a blind tasting of five red wines. After tasting all wines, visitors will try to match each wine to a description, followed by the unveiling of the wine labels themselves. Cork dorks, have your taste buds ready.

Kendra Field’s Growing Up With the Country

A Cappella Books - 208 Haralson Ave. N.E. Atlanta, GA 30307 Free. 7 p.m.

Kendra Field comes to The Carter Library to read from, discuss and sign copies of Growing Up with the Country: Family Race, and Nation after the Civil War.
