Dust-to-Digital and Bill Ferris on the music of Mississippi and more

The renowned folklorist host rare documentary screenings and a Q&A

On Sunday, June 3, Atlanta’s Grammy-winning archival label Dust-to-Digital hosts a screening of several short documentary films including Four Women Artists, Gravel Springs Fife and Drum, Ray Lum: Mule Trader, and Hush Hoggies Hush. The screening is held in conjunction with the release of Dust-to-Digital’s box set, titled Voices of Mississippi: Artists and Musicians Documented by William Ferris.
Ferris, a renowned folklorist, educator, and documentary filmmaker will be on hand for Q&A after the film screenings, leading a discussion regarding his work and examining the musical culture of Mississippi circa 1968 through 1980, as well as American blues and gospel music’s history, legacy, and influence.
