CHALK IT UP: The top three designs will receive prizes after a public vote.

Bring the sidewalk to life with chalk drawing at Piedmont Commons for the unveiling of Atlanta Audubon’s “Exhibitat,” a permanent, bird-friendly habitat featuring Georgia’s first Chimney Swift tower. Registered participants will follow the theme of Georgia’s native plants and animals and be given a 5-by-5 square, some powdered tempera paint, and bowls with water for mixing. Brushes will be limited, and it’s strongly suggested to bring your own. September provides cooler weather, but it’s still Georgia, so King of Pops provide popsicles from 1-4 p.m. Ice cream and chalk drawing? Now that’s childhood nostalgia. Not to worry, you can partake in some adulting too. Orpheus Brewing Company will offer a bird-themed brew (21+), concocted exclusively for the event. The “Exhibitat” will open to the public in the evening, so stick around for a first look. Drawing spaces must be reserved by September 10. Registration includes lunch and water.

$50. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tues., Sept. 25. Piedmont Park, 10th St. and Charles Allen Dr. 678-973-2437. www.atlantaaudubon.org/chalkart.
