Friday, February 15
Crazy Doberman, Dubb Normal, Gulp.
Brass player Drew Davis and reeds man Tim Gick lead Crazy Doberman’s psychedelic, industrial-grade ambiance that builds upon the billowing noise of horns, steel chains, maybe a cement mixer, feedback, and electronics melding into an ebb and flow of dronescapes both massive and subtle. The group features John Olson, aka Inzane_Johnny of Wolf Eyes and Instagram fame. Gulp (feat Rin Smith of Rin Larping) and Dubb Normal also perform. $5. 8 p.m. Mother Kitchen + Bar.
Listen to a podcast with Mother Bar + Kitcen’s new promoter, Amanda Mills.

Lobsters of Rock (the B-52’s cover band) with Free Hat.
Listen to a podcast interview with the Lobsters of Rock singer and percussionist Chad Paetznick$10-$15. 7 p.m. (early show). Smith’s Olde Bar.

Jacquees.
Rodriquez Broadnax, better known as Jacquees, plays a sold-out homecoming show at the Tabernacle this Friday. Known for his single “B.E.D.” and his infamous Quemixes, the self-proclaimed King of R&B’s Tabernacle show is the latest stop on his 4275 Tour. SOLD OUT. 7 p.m. (doors). The Tabernacle.

Yukons, Fran, Kibi James, Pinkest.
A night of frenzied and raucous garage sounds featuring four high-energy acts, anchored by Latinx punk trio Yukons. The headliners are flanked by weepy indie-folk artist Fran, and newcomers Kibi James, and frenzied garage rockers Pinkest. $12. 9 p.m. 529.

— Here Come the Mummies with Misnomer.
Known for their bombastic festival performances since the early aughts, Here Come the Mummies are a mysterious eight-piece funk act that’s a real blast from the past. Masked in traditional Egyptian burial garb, HCTM performs novelty songs with sexually-infused lyrics that pair nicely with their funky musical roots — but don’t worry, they always keep things under wraps. $26-28. 9 p.m. Terminal West.

Saturday, February 16
Seun Kuti & Fela’s Egypt 80.
Fela Kuti is the stuff of music legend. The Nigerian-born Afrobeat pioneer reached mythical status with daringly political music that led to his constant harassment from the Nigerian military. Though Kuti has since passed, his musical legacy lives on through two of his sons, Femi and Seun Kuti. As a teenager, Seun became the lead vocalist for his father’s band, Egypt 80, and continues to tour with many of the same musicians who played alongside Fela. Though he works to spread Fela’s tradition of rhythm and revolution, Seun has established his own career with an impressive discography. His most recent LP, 2018’s Black Times, distills Afrobeat into its most potent essence of cathartic horn wails, intricate percussion, and a revolutionary fervor that continues to captivate new audiences of Kuti disciples. — Paul DeMerritt $35. 9 p.m. The Masquerade (Heaven).

Timmy James & the Blue Flames, The Pinx, Jonny D.
What’s most noteworthy about this meat and potatoes rock show is the Pinx are unveiling their new lineup. Singer guitarist Adam McIntyre, and guitarist Chance McColl bring drummer Cayce Buttrey (formerly of Lord High Admirals) and bass player Chuck Wiles (Buzzards of Fuzz) into the fold. They’re tearing into some numbers from the new self-released Pinx album, titled Sisters and Brothers, due out April 12. $8. 9 p.m. Star Bar.

— SweetWater Brewing Company 22nd Anniversary Throwdown.
After 22 years in business, SweetWater Brewing Company is a titan of Georgia craft brewing. The 420 Extra Pale Ale is a reliable draft or six-pack selection almost anywhere in the state and beyond, and likely many locals’ first exposure to craft beer. Though its “Don’t Float the Mainstream” tagline may be slightly ironic at this point, SweetWater’s consistent quality and availability made it a household name worthy of respect. This Saturday, Feb. 16, the brewery is throwing a huge birthday bash at its newly-renovated taproom to give fans a taste of what’s to come. — Alex Patton $34-$74. 2 p.m. SweetWater Brewing Company.

— Madeintyo, Thutmose, 12 honcho, TheFamilyOrchestra.
“Uber Everywhere” and “Skateboard P” rapper Madeintyo hits Terminal West supporting his debut album Sincerely, Tokyo alongside openers Thutmose, 12 honcho, and TheFamilyOrchestra. The 2017 XXL Freshman is one of mumble rap’s finest, with a bouncy and energetic delivery that makes for an animated live performance. $23-$61. 8 p.m. Terminal West.

— Trevor Noah.
Trevor Noah brings the Loud and Clear Tour for a two-night stand (Feb. 15-16) at the Fox Theatre. The South African comedian is famous for his role as host of The Daily Show and stand up specials such as “African American” and “Afraid of the Dark.” $35-125. 7:30 p.m. Fox Theatre.

Sunday, February 17
— Ofir Klemperer and Atlanta Improvisers Orchestra.
Following their success scoring the second season of the Adult Swim’ Tender Touches, this afternoon show marks Ofir Klemperer and Atlanta Improvisers Orchestra’s debut performance. Lead by Klemperer, the Orchestra features 12 of Atlanta’s wildest experimental musicians, spontaneously inventing, developing, and interweaving themes and motifs together in exciting, yet unconventional ways. Kicking off the performance, Ofir will lead a brief workshop to teach the audience a series of hands signals utilized by jazz conductor Butch Morris, allowing the audience and performers to work together on an improvised musical journey. $5. 3-6 p.m. The Bakery.

Have a great weekend!
