Development coming where homeless shelter once stood

Atlanta Headlines March 21, 2019

The area around the Peachtree-Pine Homeless Shelter, closed in 2017, is gathering some development momentum as part of Midtown’s “SoNo” area. SoNo references the area just south of North Avenue. Remember SoBuck? Most people don’t.

While it is always good to see Downtown and Midtown Atlanta undergoing development, this particular project is a reminder of Atlanta’s continuing antipathy towards the city’s homeless population. When the shelter was was closed, there was no alternative housing planned for those who live on the streets of the ATL.
