NEWS BRIEF: Okefenokee Swamp Gets Mining Reprieve with Judge’s Ruling

An Arizona Federal judge threw out a Trump executive order that allowed a mine to operate within a few miles of the Okefenokee swamp near the Florida border. The mine was to be operated by Alabama-based Twin Pines Minerals to mine titanium dioxide. In 2019, the Fish and Wildlife Service had expressed reservations about risks to the ecosystem of the swamp. Washington Post
