NEWS BRIEF: Tax collections are up, but so are COVID numbers
Individual tax revenue way up. GA Corporations way down.
Georgia’s Department of Revenue says tax collections increased by 12.7 percent in August over the same period last year, despite a drastic surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations during the month. There were approximately 3,021 newly confirmed and probable cases at the beginning of August and more than 9,500 by the end of it. Despite Georgia sales tax figures being on the rise, figures for corporate tax payments showed a decline. ajc.com
