NEWS BRIEF: FBI sends out alert on phone scamming
Scammers zero in on successful women

Individuals pretending to be local law enforcement officials are calling people on the telephone and threatening action against them unless they pay up. The FBI Atlanta Field Office is warning the public about scammers who use “spoofed law enforcement phone numbers, along with the names, positions, and addresses of officers” in order to appear legitimate. The scam mostly targets successful women who are active online. fbi.gov
