Decatur mall gets a second chance

The new owners of North DeKalb Mall are pitching a plan to develop the 76-acre property as a mixed-use complex with 1,700 apartments, 100 townhouses, 300,000 square feet of retail, 200,000 square feet of office space, and a 150-room hotel. Atlanta-based firm Edens bought the property from Sterling Organization for $43 million last September and, if approved, aims to complete the project by 2028.
