On June 12, 2016, 49 people were tragically murdered during “Latin Night” at Pulse Nightclub - of the 49 victims, almost 90 percent were Latinx. A year after the tragedy, Somos Sur has partnered with Eyedrum Art and Music Gallery and La Choloteca: Ley de Latinx to present Somos Atlanta, a fundraising art show in solidarity with the victims of the Pulse Nightclub tragedy and LGBTQ Latinxs across the U.S. The event will highlight the importance of safe spaces for LGBTQ people of color, and will feature artwork by Fresca Linda and Josephine Figueroa, as well as music by DJ Esme and the band Bitter. All proceeds raised will go to Southerners On New Ground.
