Health Is A Human Right: Race and Place in America

Georgia State University has re-mounted portions of the exhibit “Health is a Human Right: Race and Place in America,” making materials originally displayed at the David J. Sencer CDC Museum available to the public for the first time since 2014. This freshly curated exhibit examines the historic challenges of the past 120 years in achieving health equity for all in the United States. We know that “race and place” are as important as personal choices in achieving our full potential. People with low incomes, minorities and other socially disadvantaged populations face significant inequities in opportunities for optimal health, along the lines of race, ethnicity and place. This exhibit displays historic photographs and documents that illustrate the struggles of diverse groups.

The in-person exhibit is complemented by an interactive online exhibit that offers these and additional pieces, extends the discussion, and provides an opportunity for distance learning and personal, as well as curricular, exploration.
