9 String Theory will perform a concert of instrumental music from around the world with the Russian folk trio Barynya. Performing music of great variety and intense virtuosity, 9 String Theory is the unique musical collaboration of Russian domra virtuoso Angelina Galashenkova-Reed and award-winning classical guitarist John Huston. The duo will will perform Russian Gypsy and folk music, Spanish Flamenco, Argentine tangos and Americana. Barynya is a Brooklyn-based Russian folk trio featuring balalaika virtuoso Elina Karokhina, contrabass balalaika player Leonid Bruk and Mikhail Smirnov on Russian garmoshka.
