After sitting in one spot too much, it’s easy to stop noticing all its attributes — the sounds, sights, smells. Sometimes it takes a new perspective to pull such sensory notes back into focus. Former New Yorker Maya Stein holds a Yankee lens to her new home in Atlanta, turning that same outlook to the entire Southeast region through a series of extended media paintings. Stein’s work primarily seeks to find unique regional attributes in a time of mass-standardization throughout the nation.
