Poetry pasha of Atlanta Theresa Davis hosts proficient writer and member of the Art Amok Slam Team Talicha Johnson in part of the Java Monkey Speaks series. Johnson, who’s competed in regional slams with the Respect Da Mic Slam team in Charlotte, North Carolina, presently preps for the release of her poetry collection, Falling in Love with Picking Myself Up. Johnson’s work — which tends to investigate body image, racism, and sexuality — has appeared or is forthcoming in publications like Four Quarts, Concrete Generation Online, Boston Poetry Magazine, and more.At Java Monkey
