Returning to Atlanta for the second year in a row, Step Afrika! takes over the Rialto stage with an exhilarating mix of Western African drumming and contemporary step routines to celebrate the 100th birthday of artist Jacob Lawrence. The program is titled The Migration. Each piece draws inspiration from a different Lawrence painting that depicts the migration of African Americans from the South to the North at the onset of the 20th century. The power of the human voice and body as a percussive instrument will be on full display, delivering one of the most moving, and most exciting birthday parties of the year.
