Cost: $50

From the venue:

C.T. Vivian –– distinguished author, minister, Civil Rights Movement leader, Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, and C.T. Vivian Leadership Institute founder –– will speak about the influence of music upon the peaceful protests of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s as part of Callanwolde’s Rick Baker School of Music and Music Recording Speaker Series. Vivian will speak to an intimate crowd (maximum of 200 guests), and proceeds will benefit the School of Music’s scholarship fund for students in need and the Vivian-Whitsett Foundation. The event will highlight Vivian’s experiences working with the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Representative John Lewis and the Civil Rights Movement’s success with non-violence and song. Further discussions touch on how the American Civil Rights Movement has affected art, music, and culture today.
