While percussionist Jon Mueller may not yet be a household name in experimental music circles, his list of collaborators is quite impressive. He’s worked with the likes of Asmus Tiechens, Z’EV, Rhys Chatham, Jarboe, and James Plotkin to name a few. On his own, he has released a nice set of recordings, including 2018’s The House on the Borderland. On this recording, Mueller’s soundscape travels from a primordial cave to the Amazon jungle, then through a haunted castle. It should be interesting to see how he performs some of these otherworldly sounds live.
