Jonathan Richman and Tommy Larkin

Wednesday March 5, 2014 07:00 PM EST
Cost: $12-$15

From the venue:

Lou Reed’s passing twisted a particular lens, tightening the focus on where rock ’n’ roll music’s meaning exists in our larger cultural history. We’d lost our first junkie priest, the flesh-and-blood bridge between the gutter and high art. But we still have his greatest student: Jonathan Richman. Whether aided by his classic band the Modern Lovers or longtime stalwart drummer Tommy Larkin, Richman saw the aching pathos in a steady beat, a few simple chords, and the eternal teenage dream. His multilingual stage show is deservedly legendary in its charm and spirit, and Richman and Larkin honor the Goat Farm by kicking off their spring tour in the Rodriguez Room with not one, but two shows.
