Atlanta photographers Kathryn Kolb and Betty Edge and New York painter Stephen Pentak explore the painterly image. Kolb is known for the rigorous formalism that underpins her images, revealing the poetry in nature’s geometry. Edge is known for her nontraditional approach, printing on an aluminum composite, to capture both the transience of nature. Stephen Pentak’s landscapes in oil on birch panel also combine nontraditional techniques and a highly formalized approach that conjures landscape from elemental forms.
