Unsane has been cranking out devastating noise rock dirges for nearly 30 years. Born of the late ’80s/early ’90s NYC music scene that spawned Helmet, Prong, Cop Shoot Cop, and the likes, singer, guitarist, and founding member Chris Spencer has continued cranking out brutal noise-punk driven by a life or death instinct. The group’s longest-standing lineup, featuring bass player Dave Curran and drummer Vinnie Signorelli, is on the road supporting 2017’s Sterilize (Southern Lord). Songs such as “Factory,” “Inclusion,” and “We’re Fucked” are a full-throttle embrace of Unsane’s primal instincts, pushing forward the group’s classic form of grinding distortion and teeth-gnashing rage with simple, powerful, real-time anxiety and catharsis. Buy tickets via the Earl.
