From the venue:

After receiving a phone call from a young man he was mentoring who had just been stopped by the police for wearing a hood, Coleman G Howard, wrote a piece titled Under My Hood that shared his story of being a black man living in today’s America. After seeing how sharing his story empowered others to share their stories, Coleman, created the Under My Hood Truth Experience, a storytelling event where people from different backgrounds come together and share the truths that live under their hoods. So many people are judged unfairly for the way they look, the way they sound, their gender, who they love, the religion they practice, the country they come from — the list goes on and on. The Under My Hood Truth Experience, is a safe space free of judgement where we will recognize and celebrated the humanity in all of us, if only for one night, please come celebrate with us. This event is co-hosted by the Center for Human Rights and Humanity in Action, as part of the 2018 John Lewis Fellowship Program.
