This month: A full-length concert by Appalachian balladeer Joe Penland. Singer-musician-storyteller Joe Penland hails from Marshall, North Carolina. He performs traditional songs and stories that drifted from Scotland and England to the Southern mountains, as well as his own original and stirring folk songs. Penland has recorded four albums, appeared at numerous festivals, toured Great Britain eight times, and received the coveted Bascom Lunsford Award for his “significant contribution to preserving our mountain music.” The Asheville Citizen Times has called him a “cultural treasure.” Presented by Atlanta Area Friends of Folk Music (AAFFM).
