From the venue:
They say patience is a virtue, and Hovvdy seems to understand that better than many of its contemporaries in the up-and-coming indie rock scene. The Austin-based band’s 2018 album Cranberry was an exercise in consistency and restraint, with a dozen songs that hovered somewhere between fuzzy guitar-pop and shadowy slowcore, but never exceeded the unhurried pace established from the opening note. On the band’s new album Heavy Lifter, there’s more sonic exploration, hip-hop beats, and AutoTune in the mix, but Hovvdy remains content to rock gently and deliberately. — BSHOVVDY, KEVIN KRAUTER, CAROLINE SAYS — The Earl, Sat.
