On Saturday, May 23, 2020, the Atlanta Carnival Bandleaders Council (ACBC) will celebrate 32 years of Caribbean Carnival in the Atlanta/DeKalb area. We invite you to join us to witness one of the largest and fastest growing annual Caribbean cultural events in the United States. The Atlanta/DeKalb Carnival is an exciting cultural explosion of Caribbean music and cuisine, as well as visual and performing arts. It has become a major international event and the largest cultural festival of its kind in Georgia. Over 35 thousand people enjoyed this event last year. Caribbean Carnival is an international cultural phenomenon, beginning with the parade ushered by beautiful costumes and infectious and spirited music. The parade kicks off in the City of Stonecrest at 12pm on Mall Parkway and moves along the Stonecrest Mall area; ending in the Carnival Village at Atlanta Sports City (formerly Kohl’s Department Store). While in the village, patrons will be entertained by top international talents, explosive rhythms and melodies of Calypso, Soca, Reggae and Steel Pan music. There are also vendors selling everything from crafts to your favorite Caribbean foods and beverages. Viewing the parade is totally free of charge, however to enter the Carnival Village to experience all that is carnival will cost $15 for Early Bird and $20 for General Admission. Tickets are being sold via Eventbrite.com. The musical groups will hit the stage at 1:30pm and continues thru 10pm so get ready to be totally entertained. Mall Parking may be limited, and it is recommended that you take MARTA to Stonecrest Mall via the Indian Creek rail station, transferring to bus route #116 or Kensington rail station, transferring to bus route #115.
