CL RECOMMENDS
CL Critic Kevin C. Madigan Recommends: Going strong almost continuously since the 1970s, the L5P Halloween fest is back with a weekend program featuring ghost tours, local artists, live music, food trucks, drag queen karaoke, an old-school freak show, a skate park, vendors and a Venmo raffle. The Voodoo Dance Party starts things off at the Star Bar on Thursday, Oct. 20; a monster hunt takes place on Saturday, Oct. 22 and so does a mask performance by the L5P Community Center theater folks in Findley Plaza; the parade itself is on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. Parade marshals are Mastodon, Ira from L5P Pharmacy and Patti Kunkle. Proceeds support the Little 5 Points Business Association, a non-profit group supporting local merchants and making improvements in the business district. — KCM
From the venue:
The Little Five Points Halloween Festival is a day-long celebration of all things Hallo-weird. The much-anticipated fest, one of the city’s best, packs Atlanta’s eclectic neighborhood with music, food trucks, a killer artists market, tricks, treats, debauchery, and, of course, the annual parade featuring morbidly decorated floats carrying candy-tossing and music-playing ghouls through the streets of L5P. The famous parade, consistently locally and nationally ranked as one of the top Halloween events in the country, will also serve as a fundraiser benefiting the Little 5 Business Association. With thousands of patrons flocking to the Little Five Points area, parking will be almost nonexistent. Take public transit, a ride-sharing service, or walk to get the most out of your festival experience, and wear a costume! EDITOR’S TIP: Due to massive overcrowding, get to the festival early and set up shop at your favorite Little Five Points establishment.
