Gingerbread Cruise Ship

Saturday November 23, 2019 12:00 PM EST
Cost: Free

From the venue:

Join Carnival Cruise Line for the official naming ceremony for Atlanta’s first-ever gingerbread cruise ship – a 23-foot-long vessel modeled after Carnival Cruise Line’s new ship, Mardi Gras.

Weighing in at 1,500 pounds, the massive confection is an authentic reproduction of Carnival’s newest ship complete with open decks, running lights, a water park and even a working replica of BOLT, the first roller coaster at sea. The real Mardi Gras is set to debut in 2020 from Port Canaveral – just a short flight or drive for Atlantans.

Following maritime tradition, the gingerbread ship will be named by local cake artist and Food Network star, Karen Portaleo, who helped design the elaborate vessel. The ship will take 250 hours to bake and build and will be comprised of 130 pounds of flour, 10 pounds of cinnamon and 50 gallons of icing.
