The annual festival is an open platform, ideal for fostering international dialogue on the economic and social impact of design. It provides connection, the free exchange of knowledge, design thinking and community building. Each year the Festival brings together independent designers, established brands, young talent, international speakers from academia, NGOs and government entities, exhibitions, installations and architecture tours.

Thursday features 2 virtual events and a face to face event at Ponce City Market:

‘Material Shapes the Ages’ – Doctoral students Julia Carpenter and Nicole Kleger from ETH Zurich present a virtual experience investigating the profound impact materials have had on humanity, and discuss how today’s materials are awakening a new age by transforming entire industries and the way we live our lives. 

12-1pm, via Zoom ($FREE)

 

‘The Evolution of Commercial and Residential Office Spaces’ - moderated by Caroline Perrott at Modern Luxury Interiors Atlanta, Tavia Forbes and Monet Masters, Principal Interior Designers at Forbes+Masters, and Elise Nicpon from Room & Board will be speaking about how bold color, original art, modern designs and the comforts of home are trending in both commercial and residential home office spaces. 

1-2pm, via Zoom, ($FREE)

 

Women In Design’ evening with two dynamic presentations: ‘Designing a new essential service, building and leading Instacart’s design team in unprecedented times’ will see Whitney Homans, Director of Content Design, share lessons the Instacart team learned about hiring, managing, and leading high performing design teams during unprecedented times, before Production Designer Hannah Meachin (of Major Art Department) shares every aspect of building her career as a young female production designer, including the unique creative  process she goes through when developing sets and how that process differs depending on content, client, and budget.
