Afropunk Festival Atlanta is back October 14-15. Headliners Solange and Miguel top off a lineup filled out with two days of live performances by Willow Smith, Princess Nokia, Mykki Blanco, Flatbush Zombies, and more. The event is a showcase for underground black culture in punk, hip-hop, visual arts and fashion, and it all takes place at 787 Windsor St. in Mechanicsville.

 

The Ballog Night Market

Enjoy autumn under the stars at the Ballog Night Market. Whether the crisp air inspires you to shop till you drop, eat till you’re stuffed, drink and be merry, or swing on over to the dance floor, this party has it all. Curated by local vendors, the night market will groove along to the tunes of DJ Dub Electric and bubble with Cathead’s vodka cocktails, all while the French Truck supplies eats that’ll make your mouth water. Look for new and returning products from Admiral Row, Bravo, Crafts & Love, Tchoup Vintage and more alongside the selection from the Ballog shop. All ages are welcome.

Spread throughout the center of Atlanta, this week-long event will include art exhibits, film screenings, dance and spoken word performances,mural unveilings and a block party.

 

Atlanta Pride Festival and Parade

The annual Atlanta Pride Festival returns for a 47th year to celebrate all things LGBTQ as the largest Pride event in the Southeast and the largest in the country to coincide with National Coming Out Day. Events begin on Fri., Oct. 13, with the Official Atlanta Pride Kickoff at the Georgia Aquarium and will continue through the Pride Parade Sunday afternoon. Saturday’s Pride Marketplace features more than 200 vendors from our local LGBTQ community, exhibits, civic learning opportunities, live entertainment and more. This rainbow-clad extravaganza seeks to celebrate all points of the spectrum with vibrant costumes and attractions.

Cabbagetown’s longstanding country music fixture and CL music scribe James Kelly, aka Slim Chance, hosts his biannual record and CD yard sale at his home on Pearl Street. Everybody knows it’s a crate digger’s paradise. it’s a crate digger’s paradise.
