The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia will host its Annual Gala on March 17, 2018 at 6:30 PM in Atlanta, GA. This event supports the Museum’s mission to collect, showcase and preserve the contemporary art of Georgia through its exhibitions and programming. This year’s Gala will be a unique and elegant seated dinner in our large lower level galleries. We are pleased to be honoring Lucinda Bunnen and her children Belinda Reusch, Melissa Jernigan, and Robb Bunnen for their dedication to the arts community. The lovely occasion will include music by Radial Entertainment, cocktails (including special offerings by sponsors: Johnnie Walker and The 1970 Vodka) and a delicious three-course meal by Affairs to Remember. In addition, we will be premiering an exhibition of photography by Lucinda Bunnen from MOCA GA’s permanent collection including a new portfolio of work. The art auction is no longer a part of the Gala.

Opening Reception for Working Artist Project Fellow Craig Drennen

Categories: Events 'BANDIT' by: Craig Drennen Since 2008 Drennen has produced artworks inspired by the list of characters from Shakespeare’s worst play, Timon of Athens. “BANDIT” is Drennen’s first solo museum exhibition and features new paintings, sculptures, and videos prompted by the character of Bandit. The Bandit works feature imagery borrowed from the traditions of Santa Claus, money, and the modernist grid. The exhibition will have a catalog available with an essay by Diana Nawi of the Perez Museum.

'Fast Forward // Rewind'

The next photography exhibit opening at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia has been carefully selected for the past eight years. Fast Forward // Rewind features a selection of 19 photographers who were selected as "ones to watch," highlighting video, installation and still photography created by those artists from the '70s to present day. The Room for Tender Choreographies

This site-based show brings together a mixture of collaboration, installation and experimentation in order to create a meditation on choreography and its intersections with society and politics. The Room for Tender Choreographies is created by MOCA's 2017 Working Artist Project Fellow Lauri Stallings. Stallings has been exhibited and performed in Art Basel Miami, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, the High Museum of Art, and New York City's Central Park, among many other places.

Call for Submission for the 2017/2018 Working Artist Project Fellowship

In the effort to expand its mission and strengthen Atlanta arts, MOCA GA is calling all metro area artists to apply for the Working Artist Project Fellowship. This is an incredible opportunity for growing artists. The fellowship includes a $15,000 stipend to create new work over the course of the year, a paid studio apprentice, a $1,000 Binders account, a full-color catalogue, and a solo exhibition.
