Atlanta summertime dance floors don’t get started til late. It’s hot, and we like to take it slow down here. Whether you prefer a syncopated slip-n-slide under a disco ball or sweatin’ up your good shirt in spitting distance from the guitar player, at some point beforehand it can be nice to grab a cocktail and let somebody else handle the soundtrack. For a good minute now, the city’s restaurants, bars, lounges, parks, and grocery stores (?) have featured deejays, and most nights you can find a local musician or record collector selecting tunes that run the gamut of specialty genres.
