Birmingham, Ala.
So Marija (Pavlovic) Lunetti receives visits from the Virgin Mary in a field in Alabama. At least she doesn’t see Jesus’ face in a plate of spaghetti. The “visionary” returns to Caritas, a community 15 miles outside Birmingham, for Seven Days of Prayer Dec. 8-14. Lunetti first visited the Alabama city in 1988, seven years after she claimed the Virgin Mary first appeared to her in her tiny village of Medjugorje, now in Bosnia-Herzegovina. During her stay in Caritas, she reported visits from the Virgin Mary almost daily. Just as Nancy Fowler drew crowds of believers to Conyers, thousands will descend upon the 88-acre “holy ground” to attempt to catch a glimpse of Mother Mary. Some are even going to “prepare” for the days of prayer by fasting for nine days before the spectacle begins. For recorded information on Lunetti’s visit or directions to the site, call 205-672-9622 or visit www.bcvb.org/.
