Beer Pick of the Week - Highland Oatmeal Porter

Dark, rich and loaded with coffee and bittersweet chocolate notes, this is about as close to a stout as you can get and still be a porter. The thick tan head is like the foam on a latte, but without the sugar sweetness. Roasted malts and dark fruit (raisins, raspberries) are the standout flavors, backed by a solid burnt coffee bitterness. The oatmeal addition gives it a smooth, creamy texture, but the overall mouthfeel is medium, with a dry finish. This is a treat I look forward to when the weather starts to turn cool.
