Whose Streets? advance screening

An official selection in the documentary competition at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, Whose Streets? examines life, unrest and protest in Ferguson, Missouri, in the wake of Mike Brown’s death. Filmmakers Sabaah Folayan and Damon Davis explore how events in Ferguson spurred a movement in the U.S. and worldwide. A short panel discussion about activism in Atlanta will follow the screening. Presented by Southerners on New Ground, Black Lives Matter, Solutions Not Punishment Coalition and Magnolia Pictures.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

Wussy debuts its Queer Camp Classics film series with The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Two drag queens and a transwoman (Guy Pearce, Hugo Weaving and Terence Stamp) take a road trip across the Australian Outback in Priscilla a bus. Brigitte Bidet and Dax Exclamationpoint host. Themed costumes are encouraged.

Hip Hop Trivia ATL

Question: Name the only weekly hip-hop trivia night in Atlanta where the answer to your question might be rubbing elbows with you at the bar? Hosted by Day 1 Radio’s Branden Peters and Maurice Garland, Hip-Hop Trivia at Slice on Piedmont has attracted notables ranging from legendary DITC producer Diamond D to Atlanta’s own Andre 3 Stacks. But this ain’t the see-and-be-seen crowd. Hip-hop heads and local industry heavies play to win in a kicked back atmosphere with theme nights and team names as creative as the trivia questions.
