NEWS BRIEF: Morehouse College launches study initiative on Black males

Atlanta’s Morehouse College, one of the four Historically Black Colleges and Universities that make up the Atlanta University Center, is starting a new initiative aimed at analyzing the experience and challenges of Black men. The Black Men’s Research Institute will focus on racial disparities in economics, politics, culture and policy. “The institute will provide a holistic view of the experiences, challenges and the successes of men of African descent,” grant author Dr. Clarissa Myrick-Harris said. “It will help people understand how to negotiate a society that often doesn’t want to acknowledge the humanity of Black men.” 11alive.com
