Fiddler’s Green Coffeehouse - December 15, 2018
From the venue:
This month: A holiday celebration with folk singer Jim Sharkey and the jazz band The Clams. Singer-songwriter Jim Sharkey is an Irish and Americana folk musician now living in North Carolina. The County Roscommon, Ireland native performs traditional music and his original songs that blend Celtic traditional ballad influences with contemporary issues – and, on this occasion, some songs of the season. Legendary folk/jazz musician Frank Hamilton leads The Clams. This Atlanta-based jazz quintet plays and sings classic early New Orleans-based jazz that millions joyfully danced to on New Years Eve from the early 1900s through the 40s. The band’s influences include the cornet playing of Bix Beiderbecke, the banjo and guitar stylings of Eddie Lang, and piano styles from Fats Waller to Jelly Roll Morton. Presented by Atlanta Area Friends of Folk Music (AAFFM).
