CRITIC’S PICK: This season, Netherworld is unveiling two new haunts, Promorial and Cryptid Chaos. “Guests will encounter intricate sets, next-level special effects, and new terrifyingly realistic monsters that will be more out of control, amped up, and enraged than your fragile mind can comprehend,” we are cautioned. Co-founder Ben Armstrong says this year’s haunts “are totally overloaded with an insane amount of intense new experiences. Each season we always try to make the haunts even more over the top, but this year is just crazy.” Additionally, the Halloween festival-styled Midway will have roaming creatures, a massive dragon, and huge jack-o-lanterns, plus food options and Dr. Octane’s Bizarre Beverages. — Kevin C. This year’s haunts are titled CRYPTID CHAOS and PRIMORDIAL. In PRIMORDIAL, elemental beings of water, wind, Earth, and fire fueled by the energy of the gateway to the NETHERWORLD have emerged into our universe on a mission to destroy. In CRYPTID CHAOS, several Cryptid Creatures and nightmarish urban legends battle it out with the nefarious Boogeyman to place a new monster at the top of the horror food chain.
Netherworld Haunted House is a self-guided, walk-through haunted attraction located at 1313 Netherworld Way, Stone Mountain, GA 30087, in unincorporated Gwinnett County. It is a seasonal Halloween-based event which opened in 1997.
